Publicity release

WINTER WONDERLAND PUBLICITY

SoHum Dancing is pleased to offer this year’s holiday ballet, Winter Wonderland.  Our ballet has two acts, act 1 featuring the younger dancers in Mother Ginger’s Sweet Shoppe and act 2 presenting our pre-teen, teen and adult dancer in an outdoor winter setting.  The show will be full of cookies, little mice stealing cookies, chocolate soldiers trying to protect the cookies, snowflakes, snow fairies and ice skaters!

Our talented cast includes students ages 2 to 65, as well as our teachers. Both Natalie Gage and Nina Tillman will be performing alongside their students in act 1, and as ice skaters in act 2.  Alisa Dillon-Ogden, a former Feet First student and dancer who has returned home while taking a break from her professional dance career, will be joining us in act 2.  Alisa has also been an invaluable aid as rehearsal mistress. She brings her well-trained eye and extensive experience as a professional dancer and pilates trainer into the studio, working many miracles.

In addition to our local cast, on the second weekend we will have the pleasure of being joined by two young professional dancers from New York City, Michelle Joy, and Gregory Brown.  Each of the dancers has provided us with their bios:

Gregory Brown was born and raised in Bloomington Illinois.  He began his dance training with Twin Cities School of Dance and Ballet in a production of The Nutcracker at the age of twelve.  Gregory was awarded a full scholarship to The Houston Ballet Ben Stevenson Academy, where he met Michelle .There he danced with Houston Ballet II and American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive.  With Texas Ballet Theater he danced corps, soloist, and principal roles until 2008 when he moved to New York City to freelance. Since then he has performed with The Metropolitan Opera, Radio City Christmas Spectacular and has taught, and studied around the country.
