Final show

Hello Dancers and families, Well, today is our final performance of Sleeping Beauty. I am very pleased with how well it is going, and with the audience turnout! Thank you all for your support.

I am noticing that things are running much smoother now backstage and in the dressing room than at previous shows. I see a lot of effort from parents and dancers to make this happen. It really makes a good difference.

After today’s show we need to clean up. I will have a list of jobs needing to be done. As usual, I engage the help of all the older dancers, and they do a great job. Learning about the behind the scenes responsibilities is good preparation for them when they head out of here and want to be part of other dance and theater groups.

Adult help is always welcome, though. Find a crew to join up with and the work will get done even faster. Good jobs to jump in on are getting the folding chairs put away and the the movie seats back along the sides.

The seating area must be well swept and the movie seat platforms vacuumed before they are pushed back. This prevents a build up of debris.

Anyway, the goal is to get the jobs done and the theater looking ready for the next event.

We may need a dad to assist with moving the dance floor back into storage. I will let you know about that later.

See you all soon!

Tickets

Thank you for joining us at the tech rehearsal.. I think it went well.

I would like to clarify the ticket policy. Tickets for seating at the show can be purchased at the door, one hour before the show. Doors open 30 minutes before the show. We discourage reserved seating, please do not come into the theater before the doors open and place items on chairs.

If you have special seating needs, however, please let me know and seats can be reserved.

If you are not purchasing seating but only dropping off your child, you may wait in the lobby before the show and take a standing place at the back of the theater after everyone is seated, to watch the show.

If purchasing tickets is a hardship, let me know, and we can arrange for an exchange- we will need a lot of help cleaning up on Sunday, and even after each show. We want to create ways for everyone to enjoy the show while still making our ticket sales, which support the dance program and studio being able to stay open.

Dress rehearsal tonight, so excited!

Show Week!

Welcome to Show Week! What a busy week we have coming up! Today we will be taking our costumes, props, scenery and dance floor over to the Redwood Playhouse. Tomorrow at 5pm will be a “tech” rehearsal. This is when the lights, sound and dancers get co-ordinated, and dancers practice their entrances and exits. Natalie’s dancers will have a 30 minute run through of their parts, and then all the older dancers will do the same afterwards. Dress rehearsal is Thursday at 5. Please arrive 30 minutes early to find your way around the dressing room and get into costumes.

We still need a few moms to help backstage and in the dressing room, especially for a big costume change after the “prologue.” We need 2 moms each show.

We can always use extra help setting up and will need help with clean up after the show.

We would love to have a beautiful selection of goodies for our guests at each show. If you are able to bring something, please be sure to label it for allergens.

Thank you so much, I am looking forward to a wonderful, joyous, spectacular weekend with all of you!

This week

Hi Dancers and families, Here is an update about this week’s rehearsals. A number of scheduling conflicts have come up last minute, so I want to encourage everyone to prioritize the Tuesday rehearsal, at 5 pm. Classes will still take place as usual. Thanks!
