Meet Our Teachers

SoHum Dancing is owned and directed by Katherine Wolman, ARAD, and  Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance.  She has been teaching ballet in the Southern Humboldt community for over 35 years, and has also been a longstanding member of The Feet First Dancers,  a local dance collective, that offers classes, performances and workshops.

As a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, Ms. Wolman is qualified to enter students in the graded and vocational examinations offered by the Academy each year.  This enables students to progress in their ballet training through an internationally recognized dance organization.

Ms. Wolman has two assistant teachers. Nina Tillman teaches the pre-ballet students, where she enthusiastically shares her life long passion for dance with our community’s youngest dancers.  Natalie Gage teaches two levels of beginning ballet.  She studies ballet with Ms. Wolman and has has recently passed her RAD Intermediate Foundation exam, as well as become a Stott Pilates certified teacher.  Both teachers help make the SoHum Dancing program an excellent place for children to study movement and ballet.

Alisa Dillon Ogden fills many roles at the studio- as a substitute teacher, Rehearsal Mistress and Coach for the older students.  Alisa began her ballet training locally with Ms. Wolman, and combined that with training in modern dance with Sue Burdick, and African dance with locally based master teacher  Takiko. She then continued on to study  at, and graduate from, the Alvin Ailey School of Dance.  A professional contemporary dance career followed, in both New York City and San Francisco.  Alisa is a trained and highly experienced pilates teacher, specializing in rehabilitation work.
