SCHEDULE FOR PERFORMANCE WEEK
MONDAY, DECEMBER 8-SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14
aside from Tuesday classes, ALL activities will take place at the theater in Garberville!

Monday- set up at the theater, NO CLASSES

Tuesday- classes as usual at the studio
adults, Natalie’s girls, and Kathy’s classes, but ending at 6:00

Wednesday- Tech Rehearsal at 4pm:
Kathy, Natalie and adult dancers in Skaters’ Waltz, all dancers in Magic Doll Shop ( teens/Weott arrive asap, you will be starting around 5pm)

Thursday- Dress Rehearsal at 4pm
FOR ALL DANCERS
(teens/Weott arrive asap, you will be starting around 5pm)

Friday- Performance at 7pm
Skaters’ Waltz: young dancers arrive at 6:30 with hair and make-up done. Be ready to quickly change into tights, slippers and costume
Magic Doll Shop: All dancers arrive by 5:00 to do your hair and prepare for warm-up at 5:30. After warm-up you can put on make-up and change.

Saturday- Performance at 1pm
Skaters’ Waltz: young dancers arrive at 12:30 with hair and make-up done. Be ready to quickly change into tights, slippers and costume
Magic Doll Shop: All dancers arrive by11:00 to do your hair and prepare for warm-up at 11:30. After warm-up you can put on make-up and change.

Sunday- Performance at 1pm
Skaters’ Waltz: young dancers arrive at 12:30 with hair and make-up done. Be ready to quickly change into tights, slippers and costume
Magic Doll Shop: All dancers arrive by 11:00 to do your hair and prepare for warm-up at 11:30. After warm-up you can put on make-up and change.

Sunday immediately after the show we must clean up and transport our things back to storage and the studio!

Hi, here is an update….more to follow I am sure as the show gets closer! We have to cancel classes on Monday in order to be at the theater for set up. If you cannot make studio dress rehearsal tomorrow, we will set aside and tag your child’s costume. This will also give you a day off since there is the Sunday rehearsal.

HOWEVER, anyone not at the studio dress rehearsal tomorrow will have to fill out a permission to participate form at dress rehearsal before your child will be allowed to dance at the theater. Sorry, just one more detail to tackle!

And just to reiterate- Studio dress rehearsal tomorrow means we do a dress rehearsal at the studio, “Dress rehearsal” will be at the theater…..just some new terminology to learn!

Spent an exciting day at the studio yesterday with Kelly, Molly and Rae as they worked on our new scenery backdrop for Winter Wonderland. Natalie and I found an inspiring image to work off of, and Kelly is using her professional skills as an artist to translate it into a stage image! More work today and it ought to be done.

Remember tomorrow is our date for the studio dress rehearsal, Skaters’ Waltz arriving at 12:30, Magic Doll Shop at 2.

There is an important form that all parents will need to sign, “Permission to participate” as the show will be at another venue and not at the studio.

The schedule for show week will be posted tomorrow and available at the studio as well.

MAKE UP NEWS
This year’s performances will take place in a genuine theater setting, on stage, with lighting.
Thus, all dancers will need to wear a small amount of make up.

Suggestions:
Foundation- a light coat of foundation in your natural color will take away the “glare” from the lights
Blush- a touch of blush on the cheeks will add color
Eyes- a little mascara or liner will bring out the eyes. Do not use colored eye shadow.
Lips- use only a color that is slightly darker than natural lip color.

Magic Doll Shop: some of the above applies, but we are in process with developing the right “look.” Bring make up Thursday to experiment with.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday!  This week at the studio we are gearing up for the upcoming shows the following week.

Key points for this week:

Most classes are on a regular schedule.  The exception is that on Thursday we will have another group rehearsal for The Magic Doll Shop at 4pm.  This does not include the dancers from The Skaters’ Waltz.

STUDIO DRESS REHEARSAL for ALL dancers is Sunday, Dec. 7.

Act 1, The Skaters’ Waltz, will start at 1pm, please arrive at 12:30 to change your child into costume.

Act 2, The Magic Doll Shop will start at 2:30pm, please arrive at 2pm to change into your costume.

Parents will be asked to wait out of the studio for the first run through of each dance, then will be invited in to watch a second run, at which time they may take photos and videos.

Goodies: If each family brings one goodie for the goodie table at the shows, there will be plenty.  Donations made by our guests go towards the scholarship fund.  Having goodies to share also helps the ambiance of the event.

Reminder! Do you have new tights for your dancer for the performances? Threadbare Dancewear will be closed the week of Thanksgiving, open until Saturday, November 22 then open again Tuesday, Dec.2. Also, make sure you have enough hairpins and hairnets as well!

Hi, The older students are expressing an interest in meeting for classes next week, during Thanksgiving break, to rehearse their dances. Natalie’s students might want to do the same, if you are in town. Let’s check in today and tomorrow with Natalie about her classes as well. As for Nina’s girls, I think we will stick with the original plan and give Nina some time to relax!!!
