Two notices

H everyone! Hope you are ready for the rain! Two announcements-
 
Reminder that Kevin will be down next Monday 2:45-5:30. Some of you have given me advance orders, thank you so much.
 
The other is a notice about changing the SPRING recital date to the weekend of May 19-21, with rehearsals and preparations during the preceding week. I hope this date works out well and can become a “regular” event for us. There is just no way we can be ready for a big show at the end of April if we participate in dance exams (the older students) at the end of March as well as deal with spring vacations. Please mark your calendars now.

Dancewear sale

Kevin, from Threadbare Dancewear, will be down on Monday, October the 17th, time to be determined soon.  For those of you not able to come that day, I have prepared a shopping list and order form.  Please wait until then to purchase any dancewear, unless you can drive to his store in Arcata.  Thank you for your patience!

Schedule detail

I had an opportunity to talk with Jessie and saw that I had a misunderstanding about what she would like to do. She wants to participate in the winter recital, so we are planning a tap “workshop” for a few weeks before the show for those dancers wishing to do a tap piece in the recital. The classes will meet on Thursdays at 3:30, as before. We have not decided the startup date.
 
Please respect Jessie’s need to rest and heal and direct any questions you may have about the workshop to me, rather than contacting Jessie. Once we have picked the dates, it will be posted here.
 
The recital takes place the weekend of December 9,10,11, at the Redwood Playhouse, with rehearsals during the preceding week.

Fall Schedule

Here is the new schedule.  Please note that tap class on Mondays is not confirmed yet! And if you are wondering what a combo class is, we are hoping to create a space for the older dancers to get in some time to work on specific fundamentals and strengthening exercises.  It is a work in progress at the moment.

Fall schedule plans

Hi everyone, In case you are starting to wonder about the ballet schedule this fall, I wanted to let you know that we are working on the plans right now. There are going to be some changes, mainly because we are “growing up” and need to accommodate another level or two. Classes will start the week of September 12, however.
 
One of the changes in the works is switching Nina’s pre ballet class to Wednesdays at 3:15. Nina got a wonderful new job, but it is in Eureka, so that means she has to get time off work to drive down. Her boss very generously is being flexible with her schedule though. It will be a mixed age group, however, but allowing for an hour of class time means that the younger ones can do the first half of class if necessary, then the older ones can do additional activities. Nina had hoped to set up a Saturday class, but too many of her students are doing soccer.
 
Some of Nina’s older students are also ready to move up to the next level as are Natalie’s, hence the schedule changes.
 
Another change is the possibility of having the grade 3 students do their Tuesday/Thursday class at 5…..parents, I will be calling you today and tomorrow to discuss this. Doing this will allow us to add another level at 4:15, probably a primary/grade 1 group on Tues and Thursday. these would be Natalie’s older students.
 
I also want to add some classes by creating a second studio out of the large space, so that the older students can do pilates, pointe/pre pointe and floor barre work during the 4:15 classes. For all of us, this will mean that we have to be more efficient about coming in and out of the studio and keeping the noise level down!
 
I would like to start class registrations the week of September 5, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 1-5, so we can get a jump start on things and use the first week of classes as class time, not sign ups. So, stay tuned, we will have the schedule worked out really soon!

REMINDER…..

There will not be class on Memorial Day, next Monday.

Group rehearsals are next Wednesday, June 1, and Monday, June 6 at 4pm.

We will be moving into the theater on Tuesday June 7, taking in costumes and setting out the floor, etc.  If you can help, please let us know. Classes as usual at the studio.

TECH REHEARSAL is Wednesday June 8 at 4pm, dancers in Kathy’s classes are required to attend

DRESS REHEARSAL is Thursday, June 9, at 4pm, for all dancers, at the theater

PERFORMANCES are Friday, June 10, Saturday, June 11 at 6pm, and Sunday, June 12, at 1pm

Nina and Natalie’s students arrive 30 minutes before the performances, Kathy’s students arrive 1 1/2 hour before performances

Immediately following Sunday’s performance, we need to clean up and take away all of our things.  If you can help, please let us know!  We need 2 dads and a truck/trailer to help with the flooring and costume racks. 

GOODIES! We will be setting up a concessions table at each show and appreciate donations of baked goods. ( Please label ingredients. )

Posters are available if you have a location for posting one or more.
